FAQ's

Vaccinations, boarding requirements & forms

The health and safety of the pets in our care is our number one priority. Knowing the dietary needs, exercise restrictions or required medications for our guests helps us provide the best experience.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations must be administered at least 5 days prior to arrival under the guidance of a licensed veterinarian. We prefer vaccinations be administered 10-14 days before check-in to ensure maximum efficiency. Written proof is required. Most veterinary offices will email you a copy of your pets records right away if you call them. We do not accept DYI vaccinations purchased and administered by a pets owners.

DPP (Distemper, Parvovirus & Parainfluenza) 1 or 3-yr. vaccine required.

Bordetella Required every 12 months and at least 5 days prior to check-in to ensure maximum efficiency and protection against Kennel Cough. Please note that many veterinarians administer this vaccine only by request. Many vets are changing to a six month dose.

Rabies 1 or 3-yr. vaccine required.

Canine Influenza (for dogs) Not required, but highly recommended to help protect against the Canine Influenza respiratory illness. Consult your veterinarian.

Leptospirosis Not required, but highly recommended to help protect against the Leptospirosis infection. Consult your veterinarian.

Fleas & Ticks In addition to vaccinations, all pets should be flea and tick free. All boarding or grooming guests with signs of fleas and/or ticks will not be permitted to check-in at Lucky Dogs without being treated with flea and tick treatments administered by our staff at an additional charge

FAQ's

What should I bring for my dog’s stay?

Please bring enough of your dog’s regular food for their entire stay. We can provide food if your dog runs out, but a sudden change in diet can cause digestive upset for some dogs.

Please also bring any medication your dog will need during their stay. Medication should be clearly labeled, and medication instructions should be updated in your online pet portal so our staff has accurate directions. Lucky Dogs Boarding does not charge an extra fee to administer needed medication.

You are also welcome to bring your dog’s favorite treats and up to two toys to help them feel more comfortable during their stay.

What should I not bring?

For the safety of all dogs and staff, Lucky Dogs Boarding does not accept raw food, raw meat, raw bones, or raw animal-product diets for boarding stays. Owners may provide commercially prepared kibble, canned food, or cooked/refrigerated meals in clearly labeled individual portions.

Please do not bring items that may create a choking or swallowing risk. Common examples include rawhide treats, socks, thin cloth bedding, toys with plastic eyes, or any item your dog may chew apart or accidentally swallow.

How does boarding work?

At Lucky Dogs Boarding, each dog stays in their own comfortable suite designed to provide a clean, safe, air-conditioned, and relaxing environment. We supply premium Kuranda dog beds in our suites, giving your dog a durable, elevated place to rest during their stay.

Boarding dogs are fed and medicated according to the owner’s instructions. You are welcome to bring your dog’s food, medications, favorite treats, up to two toys, and any special care instructions so we can help keep their routine as normal and comfortable as possible.

Dogs boarding at Lucky Dogs Boarding must be people-friendly. Boarding dogs are housed separately and do not interact with other dogs unless specifically approved as part of their care plan.

WHERE ARE ALL THE CRAZY ADD ON FEES?

Refresher Training Add-On

Our Refresher Training sessions are a great option for dogs who do not need a full Board & Train program but could benefit from extra practice during their boarding stay.

Refresher Training is available as a boarding add-on for $35 per session. Each session is approximately 15–30 minutes and focuses on one specific training need. You may choose as many or as few sessions as you would like when booking your pet’s stay. Some owners schedule one session per day, every other day, or more than one session per day.

Each session builds on your dog’s progress from the previous session, helping reinforce good habits while they are already staying with us.

Common Refresher Training options include:

Loose-Leash Walking
We work with your dog using the same leash setup or walking tools you use at home and focus on improving leash manners and reducing pulling during walks.

Door Manners
We work on polite behavior around doors, helping your dog learn not to rush or bolt through an open doorway.

Jumping on People
We expose your dog to friendly interactions with staff and work on calm greetings, good manners, and reducing jumping behavior.

At Lucky Dogs Boarding, we believe dog training should create a safer, happier, and more enjoyable relationship between dogs and their families. Whether your goal is better manners at home, improved obedience, or addressing unwanted behaviors, our training programs focus on practical skills that owners can use every day.

Our Board-and-Train programs allow your dog to learn while staying in a safe, structured environment. During their stay, your dog receives personalized training sessions, daily reinforcement, and the consistency needed to build reliable behaviors.

Where are all the extra add-on fees?

At Lucky Dogs Boarding, we do not believe in charging extra for the basic care and attention your dog deserves. There are no additional fees for extra potty breaks, one-on-one playtime, administering needed medication, or paying your balance by credit card.

At Lucky Dogs Boarding, we do not raise our rates during peak times or holidays, and we do not require extended stays before accepting a holiday reservation. If you only need one or two nights of care, we are happy to help.

We also do not increase deposit requirements during busy seasons. You are our client all year long, not just when it is convenient. We value your trust and are grateful for the opportunity to care for your pet, whether the stay is short, long, or during the holidays.

Any optional add-on services with an additional cost are clearly listed during the booking process. These may include services such as grooming, refresher training, or frozen treats. You are always welcome to book your dog’s stay without selecting any add-ons.

Every boarding dog receives personal attention, care, and one-on-one time throughout the day. Because we live on the property, your pup is cared for, loved on, and watched over every day of the year.

SAFETY, COMFORT AND SECURITY

WHERE ARE ALL THE CRAZY ADD ON FEES?

SAFETY, COMFORT AND SECURITY

Safety, Comfort & Security

At Lucky Dogs Boarding, your dog’s safety and comfort are always a top priority. Our facility is equipped with a Generac backup power generator system designed to keep essential systems running during power outages, including air conditioning and even the Dog TV channel in our suites. We also keep a large supply of bottled water on hand in case of an emergency.

Our property is fully fenced and includes multiple gated barriers to help keep our guests secure and prevent dogs from wandering off. Our alarm system monitors room temperatures and sends owner notifications if temperatures shift outside of safe ranges.

Each of our buildings is equipped with two separate air conditioning systems that operate at the same time. This helps ensure that if one system ever has an issue, the second system can continue cooling the suites.

Cleanliness is also a major part of our safety program. Our cleaning and disinfection protocols include high-quality veterinary-grade disinfectants and commercial steam cleaning for floors and walls. We also use HEPA air filtration to help reduce airborne particles, allergens, and other contaminants.

Owners live on-site, providing an added layer of supervision and peace of mind. Owner Dale Bible has 32 years of law enforcement experience and still carries a commission with Montgomery County. He also completed Emergency Medical Technician certification through the National Registry and the Texas Department of Health in 2001.

Staff training includes Pet First Aid, Pet CPR, Stop the Bleed, basic first aid, and CPR training. While no facility can prevent every unexpected situation, our goal is to be highly prepared, well-trained, and ready to respond quickly if an emergency occurs.
